TAP

Tap is all about rhythm, sound, and making music with your feet. Using metal taps on the shoes, dancers create percussion through steps, syncopation, and playful patterns. At RNS, Tap classes focus on developing timing, coordination, and musicality while exploring choreography that’s fun, energetic, and expressive.

Join us for weekly tap classes. You’ll build technical foundations in rhythm and footwork, while also learning to connect movement with sound in a creative way.

A very brief history:

Tap dance developed in the United States during the 19th century through the blending of African rhythmic traditions and Irish and English step dances. Over time, it became a theatrical art form, influencing vaudeville, Broadway, and Hollywood musicals. Legendary performers like Bill “Bojangles” Robinson, the Nicholas Brothers, and Gregory Hines helped shape the style into the dynamic and versatile dance form we see today.
