What is SOAR?

A specialized 8 month high performance training program for dancers 14-18. This program is a weekly program that serves to provide dancers with the tools they need to not just succeed but to SOAR.

The focus of this program is to provide a variety of training modalities that will help dancers build the skills, both as a dancer and a person, that will help them thrive in the dance industry and beyond.
 

When is SOAR?

SOAR runs October to May on Saturday mornings at the RNS Space from 930-1130am. Weekly classes include technique, guest instructors, choreography, mentorship, performance opportunities, workshops and field trips.

 

We understand that dancers have busy lives, so competitions and recitals come first, and we will do all we can to support dancers both at RNS and their home studio. *Dancer must continue to train at least ballet or jazz or contemporary at home studio or be enrolled in linear school dance program/academy.

 

Investment:

Cost: $1,720

$215/monthly averaged

Includes: all classes at RNS (Saturday mornings), monthly workshops (at RNS with guest instructors or at guest venues in Victoria), performance opportunity, 1 day guest instruction intensive (held in Spring).

*Includes taxes + registration fee. Monthly costs is averaged and includes all trainings, workshops, and Vancouver day trip (pending covid 19).

 

How do I join?

We want to ensure this program is right for you. In order to best serve you as a dancer we need to understand where you are so that we can help you soar. Please send in a video submission that includes the following to the link below:

 

  • Name, age, styles you take

  • Why do you love dance or want to be a part of SOAR?

  • Please submit a video that includes either your own choreography or a piece you have done in school or studio (ensure you have your choreographers permission). This choreography can be anywhere from 90 seconds to 3 minutes. You can also submit a technique video instead which should include pirouette, piques, jete, russian, a turning leap of your choice, fan kick, a roll of any kind, and at least 16 counts of improv.

  • Videos can be taken from any device such as a phone and sent as is, no need to edit, this is just for us to get to know you and see if you would be the right fit for the program.
